Apparently work has now started on this (Gravity). Anyone seen any plans?

I have not. Are gravity building it for sure? If so I'm sure that we could get copies of them to put up from them.

A guy posted on middle aged shred the other day looking for some older skaters to skate with as he now has the urge to get back into it as overseeing the construction with Gravity on this new park. Left him a reply but no answer as yet. If you google it a bit comes up but no plan designs etc. Should be complete Spring 2010 at a cost of £400,000.

Got a reply and hopefully he will send me some images.

'30 Acres Skatepark', in Robertson Park, Renfrew, is getting built as we speak. should be ready to go early Spring. dont know what you favour but plenty street and nice bowls. pool coping, pool tiles, transitioned brick banks. some different stuff too.

30 Acres  Reply with quote

Hi Guys,

I'm also new here. I'm an older Skater who lives in Paisley. I have been down to Robertson Park a few times now and they have poured concrete. I have taken a few photos, they are not very good as they are at a distance and from behind the fence. I'm going down this Friday afternoon to be cheeky and ask if I can get a few closer photos. The group of people who started this campaign have been at it for 8 years and the fruits of their work is nothing less than fantastic. I can only assume that there is quite a quiet attitude to this as these guys have been at this project so long and now they can't believe it's coming together. Or perhaps they don't want to shout about it as they don't want the place mobbed the minuet it's opened. I'm not sure. I will say this though, if the park is to plan then this will be a benchmark.

The park has been designed by Gravity Parks and the sign on the park says so. The Park looks as if it will be ready mid Feb 2010 if it runs on schedule.

Joe.

Hi all,

I am the person looking after the build of 30 Acres Skatepark in Renfrew, for Renfrewshire Council. As a skater I want to shout about this too but I am trying very much to keep a lid on it until it is largely complete. This is because we are trying to avoid the usual influx of people who want to use the facility before it is finished, concrete properly set and finished. It also removes the health and safety problems of people being on a building site when they shouldn't be and allows Gravity to crack on without disturbance or delay, and therefore no extra cost. I'm not trying to stifle good news for skateboarding in Scotland, just trying get the best park in the quickest time. We had a design event which was advertised on Skateboard Scotland's website in July. I am more than happy to provide images of the park but rest assured we will have a grand opening which will be heavily publicised and everyone will know about it!

Cheers for your patience.

Iain

I see your point. I know the guy's doing the Kirky park have made a request for Patience. I'm assuming this is due to people skating before completion. Remedial work is a pain in the rear.Evil or Very Mad

Good luck mate, wishing you many dry days.

Any news on the developments at Renfrew?

I'm assuming that this weather will not be helping matters.

Its a beaut  Reply with quote

A few of us went thru on Saturday as we heard it was already open, sadly it wasn't but we still got a shred for 15 mins as the security guard was pretty cool. I can tell you now the park is an absolute cracker, the place will be mobbed for at least the next 20 Saturdays until winter again! The pool copping is a highlight - as are the brick banks.

There will be flood lights but they WON'T be on if the park opens Wednesday - which I'm not sure is a 100% accurate...

P.s. if you are hitting it up take a brush...
